I faced the same problem:
Radeon RX 6800 XT, Linux Mint 22.3 Cinnamon 64-bit, reproduced with kernels
6.14 and 7.0.
Due to removed symlink in 0ubuntu2.29, DMUB is stale 1.0.0 and breaks
display output on Navi 21.
I placed the current sienna_cichlid_dmcub.bin (ucode_version 0x02020022) from
upstream linux-firmware into /lib/firmware/updates/amdgpu/ which fixed it.
However, restoring the symlink might be the better solution as suggested above.
Errors from logs:

Additionally, comparing the symlinks in 2.26 and 2.29 shows that several
hundred entries are no longer symlinks, mostly under cirrus/.
