Good news :) The difference probably is within 7.2-rc5 kernel and the
fix which is applied there for i915 (and xe too). However it seems like
you have attached a wrong log, as it's the same as the previous one, so
please attach the correct log you got after applying
xe.enable_dpcd_backlight=2 with 7.2rc5.

So next steps to further investigate it would be to:

1. Get correct log for 7.2-rc5 with "xe.enable_dpcd_backlight=2 drm.debug=0x1e 
log_buf_len=4M"
2. Try to do the same but with 7.2rc4 (missing a fix for backlight control I've 
mentioned before) and including "xe.enable_dpcd_backlight=2 drm.debug=0x1e 
log_buf_len=4M"

Please attach both logs so we can get it fixed or at least have a
workaround for it for now.
