* not a critical or blocker In my opinion, this issue is not critical or a blocker for customers using new servers with Ubuntu 26.04: a. These NVMe hotplug issues impact customer usage when multiple NVMe disks are configured in RAID 1/5. Customers must plan a maintenance window for a system reboot after replacing broken NVMe disks until this hot-swap regression issue is fixed in Ubuntu 26.04 b. Without RAID, broken NVMe disks already require repair and a reboot of either the system or the data disk. c. Once this bug is fixed and released in a new kernel update, customers will need to upgrade the kernel as usual. The hot swap will work like it does on existing Ubuntu 24.04
Locating the regression commits is not easy and based on the status (no fix yet), I don't think it will be fixed in this SRU before 14 Augest. It requires at least 1 more SRU (stable release update) which normally takes 4 weeks. Considering the time needed for the fix and the low probability of an NVMe disk failing within 1-2 months, probably we can lower this issue's severity level. Meanwhile, our team will continuously work to fix it as early as possible. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2148638 Title: ubuntu 26.04 - When the NVME hard drives were hot-swapped, the OS reported an error and some of the drives were not recognized.
