Public bug reported:

Ubuntu release: Ubuntu 26.04 LTS
Affected kernel: linux-image-7.0.0-28-generic
Last known good kernel: linux-image-7.0.0-27-generic

Hardware:
- Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 5th Generation
- Intel Kaby Lake integrated graphics (i915; built-in eDP panel)

Steps to reproduce:
1. Boot Ubuntu using linux-image-7.0.0-28-generic.
2. Close the laptop lid and allow the computer to suspend.
3. Open the lid to resume.

Expected result:
The built-in laptop display wakes and shows the desktop.

Actual result:
The built-in display remains completely blank after resume. An external
monitor, keyboard, and mouse continue working normally, showing that the
computer and desktop session have resumed. A cold boot restores the built-in
display.

Regression testing:
- linux-image-7.0.0-27-generic: suspend/resume works correctly.
- linux-image-7.0.0-28-generic: the built-in display reproducibly remains blank
after resume.

Selecting 7.0.0-27-generic from GRUB is an effective workaround.

** Affects: linux (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
