Though the issue started few days ago when there was a Linux-firmware update and a kernel update, today I found a solution by powering off the Lenovo monitor for 10 minutes and long-pressing the power monitor button to lose its residual power, then simply powering the monitor on. Probably the monitor's DP port went into a bad state that needed a reset. The monitor is working fine now.
