I tried that but it made no difference, I've also noticed that if the focus is in a terminal window then 2 instances of Alt-TAB produce some strange output, which I've pasted below. Just TAB on its own doesn't do this. The output appears to have been piped though less. There's more than I've put. If I hit Alt-TAB with the focus in the opening screen of emacs I get the "mouse 2, RET: <description of whatever the cursor is over>". Alt-TAB seems to be bound to something I'm not familiar with
