Public bug reported:

The Rust versions of the hashing programs in uutils version 0.8.0 in
Ubuntu 26.04, like sha256sum, are very slow. It is known upstream issue
https://github.com/uutils/coreutils/issues/12251 and there is an open PR
that should fix that https://github.com/uutils/coreutils/pull/12412. In
particular, sha256sum is 3-4 times slower compared to GNU's equivalent.
While that is fixed upstream, IMO it would be best to revert to GNU's
hashing utilities as this is a major performance regression.
