For the crash see attached log (around line 237). I added more log
output to boot options: nouveau.debug=debug,disp=trace,bios=trace
After the crash, I lose video output. I can use ctrl-alt-del to signal a
normal reboot. I can also SSH in to see the live status of the system.
I originally tried Ubuntu Server 26.04 (beta), the error was about the
same. I reverted to 22.04 so I could also try the proprietary driver
(390.xx). I don't want to give up on Nouveau yet, as fixing it would
give me a software upgrade path. Last resort would be nomodeset.
Card works with the proprietary driver, but it is removed for this test.
Card also works on Windows 10.
Cable is straight DVI-D (Dual-Link) connected to port closest to
motherboard. I've also tried with the mini HDMI output.
I've backed up the vbios using GPU-Z on windows. The file is binary
identical to F3 vbios provided on the gigabyte support website. I can
attach the file if needed.
