Public bug reported:
== Hardware ==
Product: HP 250 15.6 inch G10 Notebook PC
CPU: Intel Core i5-1334U (Raptor Lake)
Audio codec: Realtek ALC236
PCI Subsystem ID: 103c:8b34 (BIOS bug reports 103c:0000)
BIOS: F.11
== Ubuntu/Kernel ==
Ubuntu 26.04 LTS
Kernel: 7.0.0-22-generic
alsa-ucm-conf: 1.2.15.3-1ubuntu1
firmware-sof-signed: 2023.12.1-1ubuntu1.11
== Problem ==
No audio output from internal speakers or headphone jack.
Audio pipeline works (speaker-test runs without errors, PipeWire
detects hardware) but no physical sound output.
Root cause 1: No UCM profile exists for this hardware.
/usr/share/alsa/ucm2/ has no entry for HP 250 G10 or ALC236/103c:8b34.
The system falls back to generic HDA profile which does not correctly
route audio to physical outputs.
Root cause 2: SOF firmware ABI mismatch:
Firmware: ABI 3:22:1 vs Kernel ABI 3:23:1
== Additional notes ==
- hda-verb cannot modify amplifier (SOF DSP blocks userspace access)
- speaker-test reaches hardware but produces no sound
- Headphone jack detection works but no audio output either
- Issue reproducible on kernels 6.17 OEM, 6.17 generic, and 7.0
** Affects: alsa-ucm-conf (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
