Public bug reported:

apt purge --autoremove silently removes wpasupplicant when unrelated packages
are removed, rendering wifi useless on desktop. No hint, just hours of very
painfull analysis for a "live wifi that doesnt work".
Its MANDATORY for a desktop. This is a shame in 2026.

** Affects: network-manager (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
