Getting everything on every laptop to work every time is a very
difficult process, but Ubuntu has come a long way since it started.
Let's go over what's not working still. Here's how I'm interpreting the
problems you've mentioned:

1. Sound:
  a. sound card is muted on boot by default
  b. master volume changes headphone volume, not speaker volume
  c. internal microphone isn't working, but external does
2. Wireless:
completely non functioning: regressed from Dapper
3. Screen:
defaults to 1024x768, should be 1280x768 without using 915resolution

Is that correct?

There is a wiki entry on this model laptop at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LaptopTestingTeam/FujitsuLifebookP7120 The
tester there did not seem to have any problems with the wireless or the
sound. Maybe you could try contacting him to see if he could explain
how he got these working.

And also, is all of this not functioning under a LiveCD or an installed
version? Try booting from the Edgy Beta disc and see if the problems
persist.

Thanks for helping make Ubuntu better.
