[ Impact ]
hipblas-common 7.2.3 is a routine upstream version bump from 7.1.1 with no
changes to the public header or ABI. The upstream delta consists of:
- CMake build infrastructure: updated cmake/dependencies.cmake to use the
new ROCmCMakeBuildTools package name (replacing the deprecated ROCM name),
suppressing spurious CMake warnings during builds that consume this package.
- CMake presets: added CMakePresets.json and rewrote README.md for clarity;
removed the now-redundant README.rst. No source files were touched.
- Internal version string bumped from 1.3.0 to 1.4.0 in CMakeLists.txt.
hipblas-common is a header-only library consumed by hipBLAS and hipBLASLt at
compile time; no reverse-dependency rebuilds are required.
[ Test Plan ]
1. Build:
- dpkg-buildpackage -us -uc -b succeeds.
- dpkg --compare-versions 7.2.3-0ubuntu1 gt 7.1.1-0ubuntu1 returns true.
- No .symbols file exists (header-only package; dpkg-gensymbols does not
apply).
2. Installability:
- apt install libhipblas-common-dev succeeds.
- Confirm hipBLAS and hipBLASLt remain installable without rebuild.
3. Autopkgtest:
- Run autopkgtest suite (build-tests): compiles a small C++ program against
the installed headers and asserts enum values for hipblasStatus_t,
hipblasOperation_t, and hipblasComputeType_t.
- Ran manually in igor-resolute LXC container against the built .deb:
test script exited 0 with no output (silent success).
[ Where problems could occur ]
Risk is minimal. No public header lines were modified and no compiled
artefacts are shipped. The only plausible regression would be a packaging
error (missing file, wrong install path); the autopkgtest directly exercises
the installed headers and would catch this.
