Hi Jim,
Thank you for reporting this regression and for providing such detailed
information - confirming it works on 6.17.0-19-generic but not on
6.17.0-20-generic, with the lsusb and dmesg attachments clearly showing
the Bluetooth USB device failing to enumerate. This is very helpful.
Can you test one more thing: please boot into the latest available
kernel for Ubuntu 24.04 (6.17.0-29-generic) and check whether the
Bluetooth issue still occurs.
To do this:
1. Make sure your system is fully updated: run "sudo apt update && sudo apt
upgrade" in a terminal
2. Reboot and select the 6.17.0-29-generic kernel from the GRUB menu (hold
Shift during boot if the menu does not appear)
3. Check if Bluetooth works by running "lsusb | grep -i intel" and "dmesg |
grep -i btusb"
4. Let me know the results here
The reason for this step is that there have been 9 kernel point releases
between -20 (your reported version) and -29 (the latest available). A
fix may already be present in the newer kernel.
Once you confirm whether this still happens on 6.17.0-29-generic, I will
take the next step with the bug report. Thanks for your help!
