You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Installing mainline kernels has failed since 7.0-rc1 (daily kernel builds also
fail to install properly). The main problem is the missing initrd file (so the
system will not boot after installing the more recent kernels
fromhttps://kernel.ubuntu.com/mainline/ ) which could be a bug in the scripts
used to create the package file. I was able to workaround the problem with
current kernels by doing
(after installing that day's kernel packages eg):

      update-initramfs -c -k 7.1.0-070100rc2daily20260508-generic
then
      update-grub

For testing fixes for Ubuntu it had been a huge help having access to
prebuilt mainline kernels (saves hours of build time) so would be good
to fix this regression in the kernel image package.
