I had a lengthy discussion with AI which I won't post in full (since my
C skills are low to validate its claims)
I manged to get our systems working on 6.17 (haven't checked the 7.0) with
these commands:
echo 'ACTION=="add|change", SUBSYSTEM=="block", KERNEL=="sd*",
ENV{DEVTYPE}=="disk", ATTR{queue/max_sectors_kb}="1280"' >
/etc/udev/rules.d/99-i-hate-hardware-raid.rules
update-initramfs -k all -u
Supposedly the reason why our hardware works with 6.8, 6.16 but not with 6.17
or 7.0 is the linux commit 9b8b84879d4adc506b0d3944e20b28d9f3f6994b which
bumped the max_sectors_kb and unlocked the possibility for the megaraid crash.
