Hey Mario, I'd like to share the rationale for what we did, we discussed
this quite a bit among engineers and designers.

On 2: we think light theme is a more sensible default because:

- Dark theme causes some accessibility issues, particularly halation for users
with astigmatism [1]
- It is good to provide a consistent out-of-the-box experience regardless of
technology: if a user doesn't know what OLED is about, they may become confused
on why suddenly Ubuntu is dark on one device and light on another
- We can assume users expect light theme by default because of how other
platforms behave

Also, this is not an essential feature. Blocking the onboarding flow
forcing users to choose adds friction that I think is not justifiable: I
try to leave that only for actions that are sensitive or even
potentially destructive (such as not storing a recovery key properly).
If the user wants to fly through, so be it.

On 1, we didn't want to convey enabling dark theme causes substantial
savings in all cases because savings depend on screen brightness [2], so
we decided nudging like this was most elegant. But I'd personally be OK
with stronger language because there _are_ savings. We could also signal
this is a power saving feature with a leaf icon or similar too.

We thought this was a sensible first step, but we did discuss other
features, such as automatic theme switching based on time or battery
level. I'd very much like to see smart features like that.
