Reviewed this as part of my patch pilot shift. Ordinarily, the fact it isn't building would warrant leaving a review and moving on, but given that this is standing in the way of removing an unmaintained security- sensitive library I thought I'd give it a longer look.
The build failure in the linked branch is fairly simple: boost_system was an empty library in the prior version and is removed in boost1.90. Simply removing the dependency permits the build to succeed (locally at least). Hence, I'm sponsoring this with the additional change to remove the boost_system dependency. Note to anyone looking at this in future and confused about the package structure: Yes, it's a v1 package (not v3 quilt). The reason d/patches is still applied is because d/rules calls dh --with quilt. However, the v1 diff *also* alters upstream stuff so this is some sort of horrific mash-up of ancient v1 and modern v3 quilt. Also the version number doesn't look native (which it should for a v1 package).
