I confirm this bug for Ubuntu 20.04.6 LTS on a ThinkPad X1 Carbon 7Gen with the latest released kernel 5.4.0-227-generic (upgrade from 2026-03-19). Touchpad is not detected by the system (e.g., not listed by xinput, not mentioned in dmesg). Attempted fixes to modprobe psmouse or install xserver-xorg-input-synaptics did not resolve the problem.
Booting into the most recent prior kernel (5.4.0-225-generic in my case) resolves the issue temporarily, but a fix for -227 would be highly appreciated. As an aside: under 5.4.0-225, the "Deactive Touchpad while typing" function seems to not work anymore. It did work before the 2026-03-19 upgrade, so possibly this is related. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2144846 Title: 5.4.0-227-generic freezes mouse/touchpad on host; 5.4.0-216-generic works To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/2144846/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
