There is a workaround that I found on Launchpad -- just use the following command instead: firefox -a asdf That will launch the profile manager in Ubuntu 7.10, Gutsy Gibbon. Hopefully they will fix the bug in the next release. Is there more information regarding this workaround? For me, that didn't open the profile manager, either, but it did open a new window using my alternate profile manager.
