Hi Jules, Thanks for taking time to report this. I looked into this
using OpenOffice 2.3 on Hardy and found a way to do what you'd like.
Instead of closing the window, there is a little "X" in the top right
corner of the last OpenOffice window. It is worth noting that the X only
appears in one of the windows, the window that, if closed, will quit
OpenOffice. The File->Close menu also will only close the document and
not quit OpenOffice, leaving you with a grey window and no document
open, just like MS Word. Let me know if this works for you.
