Yes! Finally i think i have found a solution, a temporaryl, but it works. Today i tried to check my firewall with the firewall test found at: http://www.testadatorn.se/ (Swedish) After some minutes, the server freezed, and my internet where gone.
But when i disconnected the network cable, the machine started to work again. The frozen virtual concole got a "Log in timed out", and i could login as usual. Syslog is full of lines as: Jan 17 19:00:32 Sandnabba kernel: Shorewall:net2fw:DROP:IN=eth-net OUT= MAC=00:30:05:69:01:45:00:01:30:31:92:00:08:00 SRC=91.191.130.219 DST=91.95.226.62 LEN=60 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=57 ID=52367 PROTO=TCP SPT=60413 DPT=8100 WINDOW=5840 RES=0x00 SYN URGP=0 Which is from the still runnig firewall test. But some lines are different: Jan 17 18:59:32 Sandnabba snmpd[3029]: Connection from UDP: [127.0.0.1]:33339 Jan 17 18:59:39 Sandnabba last message repeated 11 times Jan 17 18:59:44 Sandnabba init: tty1 main process ended, respawning Jan 17 19:00:01 Sandnabba /USR/SBIN/CRON[7597]: (root) CMD (php5 /home/server/httpdoc/cacti/poller.php > /dev/null 2>&1) Jan 17 19:00:02 Sandnabba snmpd[3029]: Connection from UDP: [127.0.0.1]:33339 Jan 17 19:00:04 Sandnabba last message repeated 11 times The cron jobb is executed every 5 minutes for cacti. The "Connection from UDP: [127.0.0.1]:33339" message is comming every 5 minutes to. But one thing is intresting. There is no entry about that i disconnected the cable. Normally i get something like "eth-loc: link down". And what does the "init: tty1 main process ended, respawning" mean? But because it's working when i disconnect the internet NIC, (not the local NIC)... Can it be something wrong with the kernel driver? The NIC is an integrated "ADMtek NC100 Network Everywhere Fast Ethernet 10/100 (rev 11)", which is using the "tulip" driver. Which drivers do you use? Next time i reboot the server i will insert one more D-Link DGE-528T and see if that helps. But it would be nice if you wrote which card/driver you use. :) -- Gutsy craches if downloading torrents (Any Client?) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/158037 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
