Public bug reported: [Availability] The package python-qrcode is already in Ubuntu universe. The package python-qrcode builds for the architectures it is designed to work on. It currently builds and works for architectures: amd64 Link to package https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python-qrcode
[Rationale] The package python-qrcode is required in Ubuntu main for QR code support in OpenStack Horizon. It is a new mandatory requirement for the Flamingo release of Horizon. The package python-qrcode will generally be useful for a large part of our user base. - The package python-qrcode is a new runtime dependency of package horizon that we already support - There is no other/better way to solve this that is already in main or should go universe->main instead of this. - This is the first time package will be in main - The binary packages python-qrcode needs to be in main as it is a new runtime dependency for OpenStack Horizon and cannot only be in universe. - All binary packages built by python-qrcode need to be in main to achieve - The package python-qrcode is required in Ubuntu main no later than October 2 due to Questing Freeze [Security] - No CVEs/security issues in this software in the past - no `suid` or `sgid` binaries - no executables in `/sbin` and `/usr/sbin` - Package does not install services, timers or recurring jobs - Security has been kept in mind and common isolation/risk-mitigation patterns are in place utilizing the following features: This package runs in-process with the caller and writes images to files or stdout. It does not require elevated privileges and does not run as a service. - Packages does not open privileged ports (ports < 1024). - Package does not expose any external endpoints - Packages does not contain extensions to security-sensitive software (filters, scanners, plugins, UI skins, ...) [Quality assurance - function/usage] - The package works well right after install [Quality assurance - maintenance] - The package is maintained well in Debian/Ubuntu/Upstream and does not have too many, long-term & critical, open bugs - Ubuntu https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python-qrcode/+bug - Debian https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?src=python-qrcode - Upstream's bug tracker: https://github.com/lincolnloop/python-qrcode/issues - The package does not deal with exotic hardware we cannot support [Quality assurance - testing] - The package runs a test suite on build time, if it fails it makes the build fail, link to build log: https://launchpadlibrarian.net/793002745/buildlog_ubuntu-questing-amd64.python-qrcode_8.2-1_BUILDING.txt.gz - The package should, but is not required to, also contain non-trivial autopkgtest(s). - The package runs an autopkgtest, and is currently passing on this all architectures, link to test logs: https://autopkgtest.ubuntu.com/packages/python-qrcode - The package does have not failing autopkgtests right now [Quality assurance - packaging] - debian/watch is present and works - debian/control defines a correct Maintainer field (Debian Python Team - fine because no Ubuntu delta) - This package does not yield massive lintian Warnings, Errors - Please link to a recent build log of the package https://launchpadlibrarian.net/793002745/buildlog_ubuntu-questing-amd64.python-qrcode_8.2-1_BUILDING.txt.gz - Please attach the full output you have got from `lintian --pedantic` as an extra post to this bug - no output produced - Lintian overrides are not present - This package does not rely on obsolete or about to be demoted packages. - This package has no python2 or GTK2 dependencies - The package will not be installed by default - Packaging and build is easy, link to debian/rules: https://git.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python-qrcode/tree/debian/rules [UI standards] - Application is not end-user facing (does not need translation) [Dependencies] - Used check-mir from ubuntu-dev-tools to validate all dependencies or recommends are in main. Output of check-mir: Checking support status of binary dependencies... * python3-pillow is a virtual package, which is provided by the following candidates in Main: python3-pil [Standards compliance] - This package correctly follows FHS and Debian Policy [Maintenance/Owner] - I Suggest the owning team to be ubuntu-openstack - The future owning team is not yet subscribed, but will subscribe to the package before promotion - This does not use static builds - This does not use vendored code - This package is not rust based - The package has been built within the last 3 months in the archive - Build link on launchpad: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python-qrcode/8.2-1/+build/30709501 [Background information] The Package description explains the package well Upstream Name is ‘python-qrcode’ Link to upstream project: https://github.com/lincolnloop/python-qrcode ** Affects: python-qrcode (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: questing -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2122535 Title: [MIR] python-qrcode To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python-qrcode/+bug/2122535/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
