Dear Andreas,

Both tools id MAINDOMAIN+user2 and groups MAINDOMAIN+user2 fail to
retrieve group membership. With these tools, we see only the two trivial
groups MAINDOMAIN+Domain User and MAINDOMAN+user2.

Yes we are using the latest available samba and winbind:
2:4.15.13+dfsg-0ubuntu0.20.04.8

Summary:
- no, the problem is not only happening with wbinfo but also with commands id
and groups.
- Samba/winbind can retrieve group membership during user login (ssh) from the
MAINDOMAIN.
- But the system cannot retrieve group membership for a user of the MAINDOMAIN
who has never logged on.
- Note that this happens only for the MAINDOMAIN of our company, thus the
parent domain!
- For our own child domain SUBDOMAIN, everything works just fine.

Bye,
Andreas Andreas
