I reported this to the fvwm forum https://fvwmforums.org/t/fvwmauto-not-working-in-ubuntu-24-04/5011/2 People there say that GitHub shows no changes to the source code of FvwmAuto between fvwm 2.6.8 and fvwm 2.7.0. However the distributed binaries are very different. FvwmAuto from 2.6.8 is 31K, but the newer 2.7.0 one is only 19K. This suggests that the problem occurs in building the package for Ubuntu 24.04, rather than in the Fvwm source.
