Problem recurred updating Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS, recently installed on Raspberry 
Pi 4B.
Checked fstab, and checked the filesystem to /boot/firmware, and all seemed to 
be rw, rather than ro.
The command: sudo apt --fix-broken install sorted it, after a reboot. Not sure 
if the reboot was necessary, though.

That still does not explain quite why the incident occurred in the first
place, though! The bug, whatever it is, is apparently still there.
