Thank you for the bug report. Based on previous packages installed on the system, such as mysql-connector-odbc 9.4.0-1ubuntu24.04 and mysql- server 8.4.6-1ubuntu24.04, it seems you were using packages from either mysql.com or elsewhere which provide later versions of MySQL. Unfortunately, databases using MySQL 9.x or 8.4.x cannot be downgraded to 8.0.x, which is what is available in the Ubuntu 24.04 archive. If you would like to use this version, I would recommend extracting any data you want to keep with mysqldump or another tool, then purging the existing files provided by the custom package before re-attempting the install.
