Hi Noah,

Thanks for reaching out.

After some more updates after the problematic one, things have started
working on the same kernel. I have done some investigation and narrowed
it down to some 'dependency missing' issue. While `apt` doesn't allow
such upgrades to happen, I have seen the `Discover` app do so a few
times and on the day of the issue and the upgrade I did use `Discover`
to install the updates even though the night before, I saw `apt` tell me
that packages have been held back.

Here are the relevant details from the apt's history log.

On the day of the problem, these were the packages that were installed/upgraded
using Discover

linux-libc-dev:amd64 (6.14.0-23.23, 6.14.0-24.24)
</snip>

Two days later, the following were the packages installed/upgraded
<snip>

libnvidia-compute-570:amd64 (570.133.07-0ubuntu2, 570.169-0ubuntu0.25.04.1)
linux-modules-nvidia-570-open-generic:amd64 (6.14.0-23.23, 6.14.0-24.24+1)
</snip>

It looks like the Nvidia driver packages were not upgraded on the day of
the problem and when they were upgraded the problem went away.

I am not sure if this is due to some broken dependencies on the archive
side in terms of release ordering or a bug in Discover, I am not sure.
