Thanks for the workaround. 
Yesterday I did fall back to a 2nd Host OS booting from a good old HDD with 
Linux 6.11.0-29. I blocked its updates. The VMs with my apps still run from 
nvme so no major problem for me :) 

This morning, I installed the new VBox upgrade from 7.1.10 to 7.1.12,
but no change.
