I've now tested this with a local build and the results are as follows (please note, sizes quoted are uncompressed size, i.e. this represents the amount of space potentially saved on user's machines):
Original size: 9312377344 bytes (~8.7GB) Slimmed size: 8497179136 bytes (~7.9GB) So this saves roughly 777MB on user's machine, which sounds sufficient justification for this change to go ahead. The manifest from the slimmed image is available in the following pastebin: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/RRkB6cJsz2/ The diff between it and the currently daily's manifest is in the following pastebin: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/QyHHZgMsBQ/ ** Changed in: ubuntu-meta (Ubuntu) Status: New => Triaged -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2103808 Title: desktop-raspi should be based on desktop-minimal, not desktop To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-meta/+bug/2103808/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
