Public bug reported:
Hello,
When attempting to update a firmware showing a new version available on
firmware-updater, in my case System Firmware or Intel Management Engine,
dowload is apparently normal, but after clicking on "Restart now", there
is no update activity before Ubuntu actually restarts, and the update is
not installed.
Configuration : up to date Ubuntu 25.04 on Lenovo Thinkpad T15 Gen2.
I don't know exactly when it started to fail, but I guess it was after
upgrading to Ubuntu 25.04, or 24.10.
I also tried using the Application center, with same issue.
Detailed steps :
Open firmware-updater.
Click on Intel Management Engine : shows the following, translated from French :
Current version 240.49.2573
Latest version 240.50.2633
Update to most recent version (clickable button)
All versions (clickable button)
Minimal version 0.0.1
Vendor Lenovo
GUIDs a80ff059-15e0-4acc-9775-2f7fdfd32f53
Attributes Internal peripheral
Can be updated
System requires external power supply
Supported by remote server
Requires reboot after installation
Device can be used during update
Click on button "Update to most recent version"
System prompts for reboot.
Reboot now.
The restart does not show the usual update activity before Ubuntu starts.
Starting firmware-updater after the restart shows that Intel Management Engine
has not been updated.
Thanks!
Regards.
