plucky verification

reproducing the problem:

started up test server image (ubuntu 25.04 server with just samba)
containing original issue (from post #4) and mounted using cifs on host
machine (linux mint 22.1)

sudo mount -t cifs -o rw,user=al,pass=pswd,uid=$(id -u),gid=$(id
-g),forceuid,forcegid //192.168.2.213/test /mnt/test

on host, navigated to /mnt/test and created new file 'test2'. Opened
file in xed, added gibberish, then saved/closed.

tried to reopen, acts as if corrupted. Crash happens on guest server
image. Log from '/var/log/samba/log.al-laptop':

repeated the bug, created new file called 'test3'. Opened in xed, added 
gibberish, then saved/closed.

reopened without issue. No new crash in logs.

repeated the bug attempt again in case. Created new file called 'test4'.
Opened in xed, added gibberish, then saved/closed.

reopened without issue as well. No new crash in logs.

repeated the bug using gimp. Created new blank image called
'Untitled.xcf'. Reopened within GIMP, added some gibberish text, then
saved/closed.

reopened without issue. No new crash in logs.

plucky verification succeeded. Tags here have already been changed.
