Another workarround for this issue was to downgrade the NICs (Broadcom
NetXtreme-E BCM57504) firmware to

Lenovo: firmware-version: 227.0.131.0/pkg 227.1.115.0
Dell: firmware-version: 226.0.145.3/pkg 22.61.10.77

Worked for both Ubuntu and Proxmox.

ethtool --offload <NIC> generic-receive-offload off halves the bandwidth
while with older firmware it remains intact.
