Please would someone give some attention to this bug, or at least
explain to me how I am supposed to mount my encrypted partition in the
place where I want it.

Instead of naming it in crypttab and fstab, I can just mount my
partition from the file explorer after boot and login, although then it
is mounted as /media/pt/paul

This was fine until I wanted to review webpages using apache2.

This required "sudo chmod a+rx /media/pt"

Now the display controls are broken again, as above. However, it does
not happen immediately when I do the chmod but some time later.

Whereas the problem as I first reported it is reproducible in an out-of-
the-box installation, I don't see how to do so with this new variation.

To be clear regarding my original report, I got the same result with
both XUbuntu 24.04 and Asmi 24.04, on two laptops from different
manufacturers.
