Noble is also affected, I can reproduce on a up-to-date deboostrap'ed noble chroot. Here is a debdiff for noble applicable to 2.4.4-2ubuntu17.2. I built this in a up-to-date deboostrap'ed noble chroot. Patched package exhibits the expected/correct behaviour when playing steps to reproduce the issue.
