I have the same bug too from papers AND also when I tried to print even
simple text file from GNOME Text Editor (version 48.2)

Sorry if I post off topic. But there's always a weird cpdb folder on
Home Directory everytime:

I print a PDF Document using papers
I print a text file using GNOME Text editor
I print using Google Chrome

Not only that a weird cpdb folder, but that affect whether the print
successful or not. There's like 50% probability that the print fail and
produce nothing and then I have to press the print button.

This even happened on Live USB Ubuntu 25.04 on a brand new laptop
