This problem still exists. Now Ubuntu 24 has version ucx_1.16.0+ds-5ubuntu1 that has the same issue. The official ucx 1.16.0 tarball from upstream has the fix, but the tarball used by Ubuntu is missing it, and seems to actually be made from 1.16.0-rc2, not the final 1.16.0 release.
