Public bug reported:

Description: Ubuntu Questing Quokka (development branch), but also happened
on Plucky
Release:        25.10

ydotool:
  Installed: 0.1.8-3build1
  Candidate: 0.1.8-3build1
  Version table:
 *** 0.1.8-3build1 500
        500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu questing/universe amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

The `ydotoold` daemon doesn't start, even when just trying to get the
help with `ydotool -h`.

Output:

$ ydotoold -h
ydotoold: listening on socket /tmp/.ydotool_socket
terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::runtime_error'
  what(): failed to open uinput device
Aborted (core dumped)

`ydotoold` starts as root, but subsequent tries to have `ydotool`
interact with it also dump core:

$ ydotool mousemove -x -100 -y 100
ydotool: notice: ydotoold backend unavailable (may have latency+delay issues)
terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::runtime_error'
  what(): failed to open uinput device
Aborted (core dumped)

Instructions on the net are for the newer, refactored versions 1.0.0+,
and the package has no docs or manual pages.

May I suggest to upgrade this package from the 0.1.8 version from 2019
to the refactored, rewritten version 1.0.4?
