This report from July 2016 indicates that the broadcom-sta-dkms wireless driver failed to build on Ubuntu 16.04 due to a compatibility error with Linux kernel 4.4.0-22. Specifically, the Broadcom driver's source code was trying to call a kernel function (cfg80211_disconnected) with too few arguments, as the kernel's internal API had changed. The solution would have been to wait for an updated driver, downgrade the kernel, or use an alternative driver. https://www.liteblue.it.com
