Public bug reported:
The configuration file /etc/nagios/nrpe.cfg appears to be structured in
a way preferring that local options be placed in subservient file
/etc/nagios/nrpe_local.cfg, while leaving the main configuration file
undisturbed. However, this does not work for any options that are
preset in the main configuration file.
For example, the allowed_hosts option is nominally set to the localhost
addresses. If you set this option in /etc/nagios/nrpe_local.cfg or in
another file in /etc/nagios/nrpe.d/, the option is simply ignored by
NRPE, as if we didn't set it specially at all.
If we are going to structure local configuration changes in this way,
then either all options should be commented out in the main
configuration file, or the local file(s) should be sourced at the
beginning of /etc/nagios/nrpe.cfg, rather than at the end.
Or we could change the source code, such that later options override
earlier set ones. But the above options are probably preferable.
