Similar. Getting the UEFI update dialog with 3 buttons "Install",
"Cancel" and "OK" and if I click "Install" or "OK", then a window opens,
full load on one core, but nothing will happen.
But this is not a browser window, @Derek are you precise when writing about a
partial browser window?
Instead it is a semi-transparent window, probably a gnome-terminal window which
is set to semi-transparent on my system, but it has no borders and no menus and
freezes shortly after it opens.
The process causing full load on one core without doing anything is
"firmware-updater", invoked with command line
/snap/firmware-updater/167/bin/firmware-updater --gapplication-service
