Thanks for the offer to help. I am not very skilled at troubleshooting
in Linux so I'll do my best. What command do I need to issue? Is it
simply "dmesg" on its own and then output it to a file?

I'm pretty sure that the kernels were from mainline as I followed a
tutorial to change kernel but I'll check my bash history to be sure.
