I was upgrading Ubuntu in a terminal in WSL using distribution upgrade
after apt-upgrade. First upgrade moved to Ubuntu 18.04 (I am not sure
about the version... but it was 18.x). I re-opened the WSL terminal and
did another distribution upgrade. This one got a permission denied
error.
Setting up usrmerge (25ubuntu2) ...
Smartmatch is experimental at /usr/lib/usrmerge/convert-usrmerge line 172.
FATAL ERROR:
Can't rename /lib: Permission denied at /usr/lib/usrmerge/convert-usrmerge line
255.
You can try correcting the errors reported and running again
/usr/lib/usrmerge/convert-usrmerge until it will complete without errors.
