Beware that fbdev=1 is not a minor change. It enables the nvidia driver to register a framebuffer device, which in turn unregisters simple- framebuffer and simpledrm. This will be used to drive the TTYs screen. This feature wasn't considered stable by nvidia until the 570 release, where it is enabled by default (although nvidia also considers KMS unstable, so there's that...)
I had actually previously found this major issue with fbdev=1: https://github.com/canonical/ubuntu-drivers-common/commit/d1ed4552ef090290d3431bc1f2ae6b2b770e1793 The workaround is luckily already included in jammy and noble. In facts the 570 driver which enables fbdev by default passed the certification. I suppose that the bug might also have been fixed by nvidia in the meantime. TL;DR: beware this is not a minor change. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2097653 Title: Nvidia + Wayland + Plasma configuration bug To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-550/+bug/2097653/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
