You have been subscribed to a public bug:
Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS. HP Pavillion laptop with 8gb RAM and 512gb SSD.
I wanted to add hibernation support. I increased the size of the swap
file to 16gb (it was only 4gb) and placed it in a seperate partition. I
changed the BIOS Secure Boot option to Disabled, because Secure Boot
seems to block hibernation. At that point, I could hibernate with
'systemctl hibernate'. I added 'systemctl hibernate' to the polkit
database so I could hibernate without a password. All looks good so far.
Now I want to add 'Hibernate' to the GNome Power Off menu. i tried many
different things, with the guidance of Windows CoPilot. Nothing worked.
I wound up creating a GNome Keyboard Shortcut to run 'systemctl
hibernate' when I press <Ctrl><Shift>H. That works well, but I would
really like the Hibernate option to be provided in the Power Off menu.
Thank you for your attention to this. I look forward to hearing from
you.
