** Description changed:
Ubuntu 24.04.2
Nvidia 570
nvidia-powerd is required to turn on dynamic boost on Linux.
nvidia-powerd fails to start with
/usr/bin/nvidia-powerd[14645]: Error in getting the NvPCF static configuration
/usr/bin/nvidia-powerd[14645]: Failed to initialize Dynamic Boost
/usr/bin/nvidia-powerd[14645]: Failed to detach GPU id 256
Just to be clear, this is not an issue with Bios or Laptop manufacturer.
Same nvidia 570 driver + nvidia-powerd enables boost and the card works
at 170W in Fedora 42 while it is stuck at 80W on Ubuntu 24.04

+ Update: Cleanly purging all *nvidia* packages in ubuntu (both 24.04 and
+ 25.04) and downloading and installing the NVIDIA driver from nvidia (the
+ .run file, not deb package) gets a working version of nvidia-powerd. I
+ am assuming either some driver patch in the deb package is wrong/not
+ applicable for RTX 50 series or something else in the packaging breaks
+ things.
