Public bug reported:
I was scrolling around on a webpage using the firefox snap when my
display output froze for ~30 seconds (very rough estimate). This felt
not dissimilar from recent freezes when I was trying to run steam with
mesa 24, since my graphics card (9070XT) requires mesa 25. But I'm using
mesa 25 for everything I was running this time, as far as I can tell.
And I haven't experienced this kind of freeze in the past week since
switching the mesa-2404 snap to latest/beta/kisak (25.0.2-snap173).
At time of freeze, my memory usage was at around 20GiB (out of 32), and
after it unfroze, it was down to around 16GiB. I switched to a different
TTY when frozen to see if it was a GNOME session crash or something
(seems not), so logged back into my desktop TTY after it unfroze and
everything was still open when I logged back in, but I don't think
switching TTY should have affected running programs, so the change in
memory usage seems related to the freeze.
I'm not sure if this is a kernel bug, a mesa bug, or something else, so
I'm not sure the best place to report it. If I should report elsewhere,
please let me know.
