The weird flickering mentioned in comment #8 is probably bug 1924689 which we shouldn't confuse this with.
This bug may also be Xorg-specific though. You are being given Xorg sessions by default due to the presence of the Nvidia driver. But frankly if all your monitors are connected by USB-C then that's not necessary and suboptimal. Please try selecting 'Ubuntu on Wayland' at the login screen.
