Public bug reported: Hi
Recently the openzfs developers fixed a nasty corruption bug with sending encrypted zfs streams that took years to troubleshoot and is veru widespread, including on all ubuntu installations with zfs support. The commit fixing this can be found on https://github.com/openzfs/zfs/commit/ea74cdedda8b9575d7e94198d38f12943ac41343 and is extremely small, changing only 3 lines of code. I would recommend to backport this fix into the existing Ubuntu LTS versions, as it potentially has a huge impact on your userbase and the cost/benefit ratio seems very favorable. Also, Allan Jude (a core senior zfs developer supporting ubuntu with zfs for commercial organizations) offered to help getting this done. It is a game changer for zfs users that want to benefit from native zfs encryption. ** Affects: zfs-linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Summary changed: - Backport 2 line commit fixing years long zfs encryption corruption bug to LTS + Backport 3 line commit fixing years long zfs encryption corruption bug to LTS -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2111702 Title: Backport 3 line commit fixing years long zfs encryption corruption bug to LTS To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/zfs-linux/+bug/2111702/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
