Public bug reported:

I'm using an ACR122U-A9 NFC reader with libacsccid1 (acsccid
1.1.10-1build1) and pcsc-lite (2.0.3-1build1) on Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS.

When plugging in the reader the kernel automatically inserts the
pn533/pn533_usb modules. When those modules are loaded the reader can't
be used with any application using the PC/SC API, such as pcsc_scan.

As a user I expect my NFC reader to be usable with PC/SC applications
such as pcsc_scan after installing pcscd, pcsc-tools and libacsccid1,
and running pcscd. And if it's not possible to accomplish then I expect
the user to be informed that additional configuration is required. As of
now I can't even find any information in
/usr/share/doc/libacsccid1/README.*

The current behavior is that when pcscd, pcsc-tools and libacsccid1 have
been installed, and the pcscd daemon is running, and you plug in an
ACR122U-A9 NFC reader, and then run pcsc_scan it can't find the reader.

It can be solved with the following blacklist:

/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-libacsccid1.conf

blacklist pn533
blacklist pn533_usb

BTW the package libnfc6 which provides another NFC API does have a
similar blacklist. But it also contains "blacklist nfc" which might not
be necessary. And the file isn't versioned (/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-
libnfc.conf), which I thought it should be since it's in a shared
library package that's versioned).
