In case you stranded here, because you got a half-upgraded system, but
you fail to manually remediating the situation because dpkg
--reconfigure still runs in immediate deadlocks: A user created a
temporary workaround to circumvent the deadlock until a successful
update-grub & update-initramfs resolves the core problem:

https://github.com/openzfs/zfs/issues/17337#issuecomment-2885666654

Obviously the root cause is simple, and has been also reported on other
locations: Userspace ZFS version 2.3.0 causes deadlocks working on ZFS
kernel module 2.2.7.

https://github.com/openzfs/zfs/issues/17252

Currently I'd recommend everyone on Ubuntu 24.10 with ZFS on root to
refrain from upgrading right now or rollback to last known good if
possible, until a solution has found to make the release upgrade
successful.
